I'm not a casual cook and my friends and family claim that, with my proclivity for perfection and gourmet cooking, baking, and entertaining, I should have opened a restaurant years ago. This is the 2nd Cuisinart food processor I've bought in 32 years. I have no complaints, number one just plain wore-out from use. Things change in three decades and this is what I found:
PROS:
* I like having the larger, 14-cup capacity than the smaller one
* Cuisinart still produces a hard-working, efficient processor, same as before
* The chute is larger than on my older model, making it easier to `feed' items into it
* Safety with blades is an important feature. The motor will not engage unless the bowl, blades, and cover are correctly aligned. Time hasn't changed anything here.
* The cover and chute are detachable and very easy to clean/re-assemble
CONS:
* I miss the metal outer casing that my white plastic, newer model has--clean-up is a bit more difficult (Tomatoes actually caused a faint staining)
* Not ALL my old cutting parts are interchangeable with my newer model (Considering the expense, one would think that having previously purchased extra blades from the company that, they would ensure they fit all models)
* The electric cord is not very long and the processor must be very close to the wall (which can be spattered)
* Liquid from the bowl (secured on the base properly) flowed onto the counter, although the bowl was not over-filled
Planned obsolescence is apparently the buzz word today, whether it's air conditioners, cars, or appliances. I hope that is not the case with the plastic bowl, chute, and motor casing. I would be thrilled to let you know in 29 years that, my Cuisinart 14-cup food processor pleases me as much as my first one did.
Meanwhile, comparing the various brands available today, I'd still buy my Cuisinart. For motor strength, ease of use and clean-up, and attachments, no one makes a better home food processor.
